She was born in Ankara in 1972. She graduated from Saint Michel French High School and Middle East Technical University. She studied at the Department of Political Science of Columbia University. She founded İzlek magazine with her friends in 1993 in Ankara. In 1995, she translated portions of Aykut Kansu's doctoral dissertation "1908 Revolution" from English into Turkish. Her stories featured in Abra, Evrensel Kültür, İzlek, Prometre and Varlık. She is currently doing her PhD at the Department of Political Science at New York University. She lectures at the same institution.
