Cavidan Tümerkan

Cavidan (Binkaya) Tümerkan Born in İstanbul on March 12, 1922. She is the granddaughter of former Kastamonu MP and poet Ahmet Mahir Efendi and the daughter of lawyer and former Kastamonu MP Abidin Binkaya. She attended Bostancı Primary School, Kadıköy Girls Secondary School and Erenköy Girls High School. In 1944 after her graduation from İstanbul University’s Faculty of Letters’ Department of Turkish Language and Literature, she worked as a teacher of literature in İstanbul Girls High School and Ankara Education College (Maarif Koleji, now it is TED Koleji) (1944-1949). In 1952 she married Dr. Muhit Tümerkan, Sinop MP. Her poems are published in journals such as Yücel, Varlık, Hisar,and Eflatun.
