Didem Madak was born in 1970, in Istanbul and passed away on 23 July 2011. She graduated from Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Law and her first poems were published in Sombahar and Ludingirra journals. She has three poetry collections. These are Grapon Kağıtları (2000), Ah’lar Ağacı (2002) and Pulbiber Mahallesi (2007). With her first collection Grapon Kağıtları, she received the Inkılap Publishing Poetry Award.
Her poetics is constructed on a language that is daily, masculine and sometimes away from written language. Through this language, life, the human condition, existential anxieties and desolation find a deep, stirring, proficient, unique and polite voice.
