Oylum Yılmaz

She was born in 1978 in İstanbul. She graduated from Büyükada Primary School and the Department of Journalism in the Faculty of Communication of İstanbul University. She worked in the supplements of Radikal newspaper, such as Radikal Cumartesi and Radikal İki during her university years. She published reviews and essays on culture, arts and literature in the magazines, Timeout İstanbul, Gate, Picus. In 1997 she started working in Radikal newspaper. In 2002, she became the editor of the book supplement of Radikal. She later on continued working in the newspapers such as Referans, Birgün and Taraf. In 2006, she moved to the village of Peksimet in Bodrum. She published reviews in the literature journal Notos.

She still lives in Bodrum and writes reviews for the literature journal Sabitfikir.

Her first novel, Cadı: Prinkipo’da Büyülü Bir Arayış was published in 2012. The novel which tells the search of the narrator who lost her main heroine, Ümran with postmodern elements, can be seen as an example of magical realism.
