She graduated from the Francophone, Notre Dame de Sion high school in 1995. In 1999, she got her Bachelor's degree at the Turkish Language and Literature Department of Mimar Sinan University. In 2002, she completed her Master's thesis, "A Man of Dreams who is Searching for His Personal Myth: Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar" in Paris, at Eastern Languages and Civilisations Institute (INALCO). In 2006, she received her second MA at Bilkent University, Turkish Literature Department. Currently, she is doing her PhD at Sorbonne Paris IV, working on her dissertation on "Transnational Perspectives on 19th and 20th Century Ottoman and French Literatures." She has been teaching at Özyeğin University since 2009.

Her articles and translations are published in various journals. Her areas of research are 19th and 20th century women's literature, feminist literary theory, gender, transnationalism, poststructuralism and postcolonial theory. She is the mother of Mert Deniz.
