Sevim Asımgil

She was born on 10 March 1939 as the daughter of Nimet and Mehmet Esencan in Komotini, Greece. She lived in various cities in Europe during her childhood years. She completed her high school education in Bursa and her university education at the Faculty of Dentistry of Istanbul University. She published her first novel Siyah Zambak ve Merve in 1985. After working as a dentist for a long period, she closed her practice in 1988 and started writing full-time. She published her works in various newspapers and journals, and gave conferences. She is known for her research on Islamic topics. She is a member of the Turkish Writers’ Union. She lives in Istanbul and has two children.
